You can basically stop on the side of the road and lie in a field of Lupines (summer time), walk less that 300m to a 60 foot waterfall, get lost in the strangeness of the black beaches or seeing glacier float past you. This place is mind blowing.

Timing is Iceland is ESSENTIAL, during the summer months June – August there are an influx of tourists, but that doesn’t mean that we need to avoid these areas completely. We just have to choose the right time to be there. Reynisfjara Black Beach sees over 120 000 tourists in the first 6 months of the year, but I have been there for sunrise many times with only a handful of tourists around and to be honest those are genuine landscape photographs who just mind their own business. We are not interesting at all for them.
