There is no greater compliment you can give a photographer, than to keep inviting them back into your lives.
I have been lucky to have photographed these two humans a few times and each time, I always think to myself, it can’t get better and then it does!
This two day vow renewal started in the biggest lupine field right next to the road and we shot off to the stunning Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon where we got some beautiful gold light streaming through the Canyon, casually stopped on the side of the road to find these incredible Lupine fields as far as the eye and see and then bolted off to Seljalandsfoss for the midnight sunset.
We got there and wow we couldn’t believe the amount of people (nearly midnight) at Seljalandsfoss. We tried to get around the waterfall, but decided that we would work around the front area and we had the best time!
We quickly moved to Skogafoss, my favourite waterfall in Iceland, I dont care about the masses of people that go there, if you get there early in the morning, this place is MAGICAL. You can feel the vibrations of the water hitting the bottom the closer you get to her.
Then the FUN started, it was nearly 01h00 in the morning and we decided to head to the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara, hoping to catch the sunrise, we had no choice but to sleep in the car for a couple of hours sunrise was at 03h30 and it made no sense to drive back to our accommodation for 20 minutes sleep and then drive all the way back, so there we were, four of us in the car, sleeping and waiting for the sunrise. What a wonderful way to wake up, even though we were all tired, we were the only humans on THAT amazing beach.
We had some amazing light (had to fight the cold a bit) but headed back “home” for showers, hot chocolate and a bit of a much deserved nap! After our batteries and bellies were recharged we headed to the Geysir (the most delicious burgers) and headed to the icey blue waters of Brúarfoss, that place is just so beautiful. How does a blue become that blue! And then, Haifoss, I have never seen such a spectacular view. Two waterfalls, close to each and the canyon that is deep and beautiful and when the sun comes out she shows us even more beauty with a stunning waterfall spray rainbow, you cant make this stuff up!
Our hopes of getting to the DC plane wreck were ruined with rain, but nonetheless we had a magical day and half. Filled with laughter, driving, renewed love, waterfalls, canyons, views, rainbows, dancing, jumping up and down to get warm, maybe a fit of frostbite, but memories that will be treasured in my heart for eternity.
