MOON
WHY COUPLES CHOOSE IT
A place with a point of view, and a different story around every corner.
I’ve photographed over 100 weddings at Emily Moon, and every single one felt different. The lodge is filled with African art, antiques and odd, wonderful details collected over years, so your photographs could never be mistaken for a generic hotel wedding.

NEED TO KNOW
Before you book.
The venue is at its best for intimate weddings, roughly 100 guests or fewer. The sixteen lodge suites keep the couple and closest family on site; further accommodation is available in Plett. Confirm current capacities and exclusive-use options directly with the venue.
Spring and autumn bring mild weather and soft light. For photography specifically, May to September is my favourite: the river deck gets beautiful golden light, and a winter wedding here can feel wonderfully calm.
The covered garden venue can handle a ceremony or reception, while the lodge interiors are full of texture and pockets of soft light. Emily Moon is one of the rare venues where a wet-weather portrait plan still feels exciting.
Absolutely. A deck ceremony, dinner at Emily’s and a suite upstairs makes a small wedding feel intentional rather than scaled down. The gardens and river give us plenty of variety without taking you away from your people for long.
For peak-season Saturdays, venues and photographers along the Garden Route often book 12–18 months ahead. Winter and weekday dates usually offer more flexibility, but it is always worth asking if your plans are spontaneous.
