WHY COUPLES CHOOSE IT
Why couples choose The Lookout
If you want your actual toes in actual sand when you say it, this is Plett’s venue. The ceremony happens on Lookout Beach itself, one of the Garden Route’s most photographed stretches of coast, and then everyone walks thirty metres to a deck built for sundowners. I’ve photographed three weddings here and the sea has shown off at every one of them.
The Grand Africa styling does the rest: that signature eclectic glamour against the blue, so the venue looks dressed even before the florist arrives.

THROUGH SHARYN’S LENS
Photographing a wedding at The Lookout
Beach weddings live and die by wind and tide, and after three weddings here I plan for both: ceremony timing set against the tide table so the sand is wide and clean, and an arc that puts the wind at the couple’s backs, veils flying forward like they were directed. The lagoon mouth end gives quieter water for portraits when the surf side is wild.
Golden hour belongs to the deck, champagne, ocean, warm rails and that low light off the water. It’s the easiest venue in Plett for a sunset session because the sunset is the venue.
PLANNING AROUND THE LIGHT
A timeline shaped around your date.
Sunrise and sunset shift throughout the year, so there is no single perfect ceremony time at The Lookout. I build each timeline around the sunset time on your actual date, the ceremony space, the weather and tide, wind and the low light off the water.
MAR TO SEP
March – September
The sun sits lower and golden light arrives earlier in the afternoon. Winter seas are dramatic and the light goes golden earlier, earlier ceremonies keep the beach window generous, and whale season adds the occasional guest.
OCT TO FEB
October – February
Days run long and the light stays strong late. Summer evenings stretch long on the sand, later ceremonies dodge the midday glare and finish on the deck exactly as the sun drops.
YOUR DATE
Your personal timeline
Once your date is confirmed, I work backwards from sunset and create a photography timeline around your ceremony, portraits and reception, with enough flexibility for weather and the unplanned moments that make the day yours.
THE RHYTHM
The shape of the day
Getting ready → Ceremony → Family photographs → Golden-hour portraits → Dinner & dancing
FLEXIBILITY
Exact times stay personal
Exact times are created for your date, never copied from a generic schedule.

Yes, the ceremony happens on Lookout Beach sand, with the deck and restaurant metres away for the reception. I plan the timing around tide and wind with you.
Exclusive-use celebrations from about 40 up to 200 guests.
The styled restaurant interior takes the day indoors, and moody sea weather often makes the best beach portraits of all.
The venue manages its beachfront setting, logistics are far simpler than a standalone public-beach wedding. Confirm details with their events team.
