“We are making photographs to understand what our lives mean to us.”
— Ralph Hattersley
Choosing the right photographer for any criteria is never a walk in the park and it involves a lot of careful negotiations and decisions to be made in order to find the perfect person for the job. To save you the time and hassle I have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you get the vital answers to your queries to save you time and stress in your decision making process.
Below is a list of the most frequently asked questions:
A 50% deposit and a signed wedding contract is required to secure your wedding date.
Unfortunately your booking fee is non-refundable, please make 100% sure you want me to photograph your special day.
Of course you can, however, I can’t guarantee that they will be exactly the same. Photography has so many factors to take into consideration to get that specific photo, but we can use it as a starting point to make sure that we all are on the same page. Remember you are booking me for my unique style, so there will always be my artist interpretation of the shot.
I accept Eff’s, if you wish to pay via PayPal, please add another 5% to the total.
Most definitely we can. I am based in Plettenberg Bay and would be able to meet up during week days, as most of my weekends are booked. I am also happy to do a Skype meeting.
I always bring an assistant to help me, but she does take photos too.
Unfortunately as much as Sharyn Hodges tries to have an impact on the world, she cannot foresee the future or control Mother Nature.
If in the unfortunate events of rain or poor weather conditions, the show must go on! I will do my utmost best to ensure the pictures are the best to my ability but you must appreciate photography equipment is expensive and is not wrapped in bubble wrap. It is also likely for photograph quality to be reduced as we fight Mother Nature. And ultimately I have the FINAL say if we continue in weather conditions that might cause damage to my equipment.
Again depending on how many hours you have booked me for.
For a 6 hour wedding – 400
For a 8 hour wedding – 600
For a 10 hour wedding 800
I photograph in RAW, and export in JPEG, you will get high resolution images.
For weddings in Plettenberg Bay and Knysna there is no additional fuel costs.
After that however, clients are responsible for the cost of travel and will be billed at the current AA rate of R3,50 per km. Any weddings that are an hour and half away from Plettenberg Bay, with an end time of 21h30, please budget for one night’s accommodation at a modest guesthouse or BnB.
For weddings outside of the Western Cape, please budget for flights, two nights accommodation in a modest guest house or BnB and car hire (if needed).
Unfortunately once the date is booked, it’s booked. I often turn away any other business for that date. Of course I will do my best to accommodate if that does happen, but by default treat it as a cancellation and a new booking.
If I manage to book another wedding on that date, I will refund some or all of your booking fee.
Yes please, sadly I am like a child that if I am hungry I am grumpy and I will have trouble to focus and be creative. I am a chickenarian, if there is not chicken on the menu, please could I have the vegetarian option..
I don’t need to be seated with the guests, but I am friendly enough (no one has been bitten, lately) should you choose to do so. I do have a request that I (we) sit at a table with chairs and cutlery and that we have a view to see the action of the room. I also request to be fed with the guests and not the vendors, I don’t take photos of the guests eating so it would be a perfect time for me to eat too.
Yes I am, but I do charge per hour. Please try and advise me in advance if over time is needed as it may affect accommodation and travel costs. If extra hours are confirmed before the event, they will be charged at standard rates. Hours purchased on the night will be charged at time and a half.
I am so so paranoid when it comes to this. My first back up comes while I am photographing, my camera has two card slots, in case the one gets corrupted. When I travel back home / accommodation, I split the cards one goes into the cabby and the other I stick in my clothing, when I get back home / accommodation I immediately upload the photographs onto a hard drive. And when I get back home, that gets backed up too.
Generally the waiting period is 12 weeks. I will contact you when the photos are ready for courier or PostNet. I do put a selection of photographs onto my website (if you want) within the first week of the wedding.
This is why you wait for 12 weeks for your photographs, the selection process for a wedding take a lot of time. What you see on my website is how your photographs will look, moody and maybe a touch of grunge. I don’t believe in massive retouching, I will not be able to take 10kg off or tuck in your tummy. I create moments, not models. If you wish to do excessive retouching I think you should get hold of someone who does that. Please don’t ask me to do super impose a dinosaur, shark, colour spotting or sepia to the photographs.
Sorry, no. I believe that the selection I make is that of the best images from the day and each photograph is edited individually. If you would like more photographs of your day, there can be additional editing fees.
The wedding albums can only be designed once I have completed your wedding selection. Three changes are permitted to photobook layout and image choices, thereafter, changes are charged atR350.
