Keurboomstrand

August 1, 2018

Keurboomstrand is situated about 15km out of Plettenberg Bay and I have been lucky enough to call this home for the past 20 years.

Since I can remember we come down every December school holiday to “Plett” and my earliest memories of this place is long summer days swimming at the “Baby Pool” with my cousins and grand parents. When we got a little older we ventured out to “Grannies Pool”, the scary place with the big waves. These we such awesome holiday memories and if I sit back I can write all sorts of stories. Making friends with the other Keurbooms family children, walking on the hot beach sand to what was called “The Singing Kettle” for crumpets (the best ever) and strawberry milkshakes. Or going to the shop and buying drink o pop, just to eat out of the packet, how I still have a stomach today is a wonderful wonder, buying sticky chips (literally smelled like fish, but so good!), fishing for little rock fish and fishing in the big sea with dad. The list can go on forever.

But staying here has made me appreciate this wonderful corner of South Africa so much. The rugged coastlines and pristine beaches provide me with the perfect playground and often you will see me and Golden Retriever, Dani, capturing sunrise or walking looking for pansy shells. There is no place like home.
