That moment you get a Norwegian Wedding enquiry!
I honestly can’t believe that I went to Norway to shoot a wedding and what a wedding it was! When I received the enquiry from Maggie and Jon, I must have squealed, jumped for joy and read it about 10 times! I knew it was an enquiry and not a “booking”, I replied and then I sat and crossed everything that my body could cross, fingers, toes, legs and arms and I tried to find a eyelash to make a “wish”. I thought this would be so epic!
Sent! Now, the wait, the constant refreshing of my inbox, and the thought “why aren’t they replying”, I know silly right. But I just wanted to be their photographer and then BOOM, the reply, we set up a video call and I was so nervous because this is the make and break right and after a loooooong video chat, filled with laughter and excitement, I had a feeling, I am going to Norway! And then next thing I knew, I was researching Norway!
Maggie and Jon, there really are no words to describe your wedding, it really was such a honour to share, capture, celebrate and adventure with you. I had the best time not only in Norway (my word the HIKES) but at your wedding. I loved that you did it exactly the way you wanted. We did a first look surround my water and hill (and a bit of wind), then we had you in canoe fighting strong winds, then a beautiful wedding ceremony (I honestly wish I knew a little Norwegian), but by the amount of tears amongst yourselves and your friends and family, I am sure it was beautiful, my word, the food and views where to die for. I loved the Norwegian traditional clothing (the patterns and colours in particular), the wedding traditions, like kissing on the table or under the table.
I loved that you wanted a sparkle tunnel outside (in a slightly drizzle) and danced with your friends, you cut the cake with a freakin sword and your vows included signing, Jon, the passion you sang still gives me goose bumps and there definitely was some serious Mama Mia feels.
I was so sad to leave the next morning, we had tight schedule to I just need to send some preview photos, I was editing in the car listening to Chappell Roan surround was tons of water, waterfalls, mountains, autumn colours, RAIN and quaint little towns.
Maggie and Jon, THANK YOU for choosing me, there will never be enough words to say how grateful I am to be part of your wedding for many reasons.
I can”t wait to get back to Norway to explore so more of your beautiful country and remember you have a friend when you come to South Africa!
