A few days after Maryike and Tyrone’s beautiful summer wedding at Boskey Dell Rose Pavilion in Plettenberg Bay, we met again for a different kind of photoshoot—one that was all about fun, freedom, and a bit of daring: their “trash the dress” session at Keurboomstrand Beach.
The concept of “trashing the dress” has become a popular way for couples to add a bit of adventure to their wedding story. It’s about stepping away from the traditional, pristine images of the big day and embracing something wild, free, and uniquely yours. For Maryike and Tyrone, this meant taking their wedding attire back out into the elements, but this time, with no worries about keeping it clean.
We met at Keurboomstrand Beach just before sunrise, the sky still wrapped in shades of soft blue and pink. There’s something magical about the early morning light, and as the sun began to rise, fighting its way through the clouds. It was the perfect backdrop for what was to come.
Maryike’s dress, once so carefully protected, was now free to interact with the beach in all its natural beauty. As she and Tyrone played in the surf, splashing through the shallow water and letting the waves crash around them, the dress took on a new life. The once-immaculate gown became a symbol of joy and spontaneity, flowing freely as they moved through the water.
The session was filled with laughter and love, the perfect blend of romance and adventure. Tyrone, ever the supportive partner, was right there with her, encouraging the playful energy of the shoot. They ran through the surf, embraced on the sand, and let the wind and water create moments of pure magic.
A “trash the dress” shoot is about more than just the photos; it’s about the experience and the memories made along the way. For Maryike and Tyrone, it was a chance to celebrate their love in a completely different way—one that was as carefree and joyful as they are.
The images we captured that morning are a beautiful reminder that love is not just about the perfect moments, but also about the wild, messy, and unpredictable ones. It was an absolute pleasure to document this part of their journey, and I’m so glad they chose to embrace the adventure of a “trash the dress” session
xXx
