WHY COUPLES CHOOSE IT
Why couples choose Pezula
Pezula owns the drama side of Knysna: cliffs, ocean, emerald fairways and that famous stretch where the Heads open to the sea. Whitney & Donovan’s wedding here showed me its range, polished ballroom elegance one hour, wild clifftop portraits the next. And then there’s Noetzie: a genuine castle on a beach, twenty minutes away, for couples who want their ceremony to sound made up.
As a resort it removes friction, suites with log fires, the Wellness Quarter for the morning-of, restaurants for every other meal of the weekend.

THROUGH SHARYN’S LENS
Photographing a wedding at Pezula
The clifftop is the shot: couple on the headland, fairway green running to the edge, ocean beyond, I time it for the hour the sea turns from blue to gold. Wind is part of clifftop life, so I plan hair-and-veil accordingly and keep a sheltered fairway pocket as the calm alternative.
If your day includes Noetzie, we plan it properly, the castle-and-boulders beach is a landscape shoot of its own, and the walk down is worth every step in the gallery.
PLANNING AROUND THE LIGHT
A timeline shaped around your date.
Sunrise and sunset shift throughout the year, so there is no single perfect ceremony time at Pezula. I build each timeline around the sunset time on your actual date, the ceremony space, the weather and the clifftop’s ocean light and the fairways’ late glow.
MAR TO SEP
March – September
The sun sits lower and golden light arrives earlier in the afternoon. Clean winter light on the headland and early sunsets, ceremonies sit earlier, and whale season fills the horizon.
OCT TO FEB
October – February
Days run long and the light stays strong late. Summer stretches the fairway glow late, later ceremonies land the clifftop session exactly at golden hour.
YOUR DATE
Your personal timeline
Once your date is confirmed, I work backwards from sunset and create a photography timeline around your ceremony, portraits and reception, with enough flexibility for weather and the unplanned moments that make the day yours.
THE RHYTHM
The shape of the day
Getting ready → Ceremony → Family photographs → Golden-hour portraits → Dinner & dancing
FLEXIBILITY
Exact times stay personal
Exact times are created for your date, never copied from a generic schedule.

NEED TO KNOW
Before you book.
A photographer’s answers to the questions couples ask most often about Pezula Nature Retreat. Venue details and packages can change, so confirm the final information directly.
The Outeniqua Ballroom takes up to about 140, opening onto terraces; smaller venues on the resort suit intimate days, and Noetzie’s castle hosts tiny ceremonies.
A stone castle on Noetzie Beach below the resort, one of South Africa’s most extraordinary ceremony settings for small weddings.
The resort is no longer Conrad-branded, it operates as Pezula Nature Retreat / Pezula Nature Hotel & Spa. Older articles may say Conrad Pezula.
The ballroom and restaurants hold the day indoors, and dramatic sea weather on the cliffs makes portraits most venues would envy.

I’ve shot Pezula from ballroom to clifftop, if your plans include the headland or the castle at Noetzie, I know exactly when their light behaves.
