FROM BEHIND THE LENS
The region, read through its light.
Plettenberg Bay’s wedding venues run from beach ceremonies on Lookout Beach to glass greenhouses among Crags vineyards and heritage manors in the forest. This guide covers every venue in and around Plett, written by a local photographer who has shot weddings at most of them, with honest notes on light, capacity and character.
I’m not a directory, I’m the photographer who has actually shot most of these rooms, decks and vineyards, over three hundred weddings’ worth. Every venue in and around Plett is below in one list; where I’ve photographed weddings you’ll see the badge and a link to my full venue guide, and the list simply grows as I shoot at more of them.

SHARYN’S HONEST NOTES
How to choose (a photographer’s honest advice)
01
Pick the light before the linen. Ask where the sun sets relative to the ceremony spot on YOUR date, I plan every timeline backwards from sunset, and some venues make that easy while others fight it.
02
Interrogate the wet-weather plan, not whether one exists, but whether you’d be happy if it happened. Glass venues (Kay & Monty) and character interiors (Emily Moon) turn rain into a feature.
03
Count the real capacity, seated with a dance floor, not cocktail-style. Then subtract 10% for comfort.
04
Sleep-on-site changes everything: venues with accommodation turn a wedding into a weekend and photograph calmer mornings.
05
Book 12 to 18 months out for peak-season Saturdays (October to April), venues and photographers fill on the same timeline.
PLANNING ANSWERS
Questions couples ask before they choose.
Grand Africa Lookout Beach is the true toes-in-the-sand option, ceremonies happen on Lookout Beach itself with the deck for receptions. Milkwood Manor offers a quieter lagoon-edge alternative.
Venue hire varies widely, boutique exclusive-use estates typically run higher than restaurant-venue models. Most publish rates on enquiry; I’m happy to give ballpark guidance for any venue on this page.
Emily Moon (16 suites), Forest Hall (sleeps 30), Sky Villa (20+ rooms), Kay & Monty (5-bed farmhouse), Fairview House (26), Stanley Island (3 lodges), Barrington’s (10 rooms) and Kurland all sleep the wedding party on site.
12 to 18 months ahead for peak-season Saturdays (October to April). Winter and weekday dates are far more open, and the light is often better for photographs.
Emily Moon, Luka Vineyards, Barrington’s and Sky Villa all excel at intimate celebrations; for a true elopement, my Garden Route elopement packages cover ceremony spots beyond venues too.
