There’s something truly magical about Nature’s Valley at sunset. Tucked away just outside Plettenberg Bay, it’s one of those places that feels like a well kept secret, golden light, lush forests, and the kind of peaceful quiet that instantly puts everyone at ease. It was the perfect backdrop for a recent family shoot with Steph, Rob, and their two little adventurers.
We kicked things off on the beach, where we ran barefoot along the shoreline, chasing waves and giggling between shots. The sun was still high enough to cast a soft, golden glow across the sand, giving us those dreamy, light-filled images that every family hopes for. Steph and Rob were so natural with their little ones, cuddles, piggyback rides, tickle fights. It was all about real moments, not forced poses. Just the way I like to shoot. (:
As the sun dipped lower, we made our way to the lagoon. Nature’s Valley Lagoon is honestly one of the most underrated spots near Plett. Surrounded by mountains and mirror-like water, it’s a photographer’s dream. The reflections on the lagoon, the way the mountains caught the last of the light, and the calmness that settled in as the kids snuggled in close to their parents… it was pure magic.
This session reminded me again why I love shooting families yes sometime it’s chaos, the REAL connections, and the tiny moments that tell big stories. Nature’s Valley gave us the most stunning canvas, and Steph and Rob’s family brought all the love and joy to paint it with.
If you’re thinking about booking a family shoot in the Garden Route, especially around Plettenberg Bay, Nature’s Valley should absolutely be on your list. It’s wild, beautiful, and full of adventure, just like your family story.
