VILLA
CASTOLLINI
Villa Castollini is an Italian-style luxury villa on the hill at Brenton-on-Sea, ten minutes from Knysna, looking over the lagoon and out to sea.

WHY COUPLES CHOOSE IT
Why couples choose Villa Castollini
Castollini gives the Garden Route its little piece of Tuscany, terracotta, columns and a terrace that owns one of the best views in Knysna: the lagoon spread below, the Heads in the distance, the sea beyond Brenton. Maria & Marcel’s wedding here ran chapel to terrace to glass-walled hall, and the view worked in every single frame.
The villa holds the whole day on one hill, chapel, reception, ten suites, honeymoon suite over the lagoon, with the beach five minutes down if you want sand between the ceremony and the party.

THROUGH SHARYN’S LENS
Photographing a wedding at Villa Castollini
The elevation is everything here. The terrace faces the lagoon, so afternoon portraits get water, hills and sky in layers, and at dusk the estuary turns to mercury below the couple. I plan Castollini days to end on that terrace as the light drops, with the glass hall glowing behind for the first-dance frames.
The chapel is small and honest, real intimacy, real light through its windows, and Brenton Beach below adds a five-minute barefoot session that couples rave about: villa elegance and sea spray in one gallery.
PLANNING AROUND THE LIGHT
A timeline shaped around your date.
Sunrise and sunset shift throughout the year, so there is no single perfect ceremony time at Villa Castollini. I build each timeline around the sunset time on your actual date, the ceremony space, the weather and the lagoon panorama and how it turns silver at dusk.
MAR TO SEP
March – September
The sun sits lower and golden light arrives earlier in the afternoon. The lagoon view is clearest in winter light and sunset arrives early over Brenton, earlier ceremonies protect the terrace hour.
OCT TO FEB
October – February
Days run long and the light stays strong late. Long evenings let a later chapel ceremony flow to the terrace exactly as the estuary catches the last light.
YOUR DATE
Your personal timeline
Once your date is confirmed, I work backwards from sunset and create a photography timeline around your ceremony, portraits and reception, with enough flexibility for weather and the unplanned moments that make the day yours.

NEED TO KNOW
Before you book.
A photographer’s answers to the questions couples ask most often about Villa Castollini. Venue details and packages can change, so confirm the final information directly.
Up to 250 seated in the reception hall, with the chapel and terrace suiting far more intimate ceremonies too.
Yes, an intimate chapel with lagoon and mountain views, plus the option of a barefoot ceremony on Brenton Beach five minutes away.
Ten luxury suites sleep around sixteen on site, including a honeymoon suite overlooking the lagoon.
The glass-walled hall keeps the view even indoors, rain on the lagoon is honestly one of the prettier backdrops here.
ALREADY IMAGINING IT?
Getting married at Villa Castollini?
I’ve photographed the chapel-to-terrace day at Castollini and I know when that lagoon turns to silver. If you’re marrying above Brenton, let’s plan your light.
