WHY COUPLES CHOOSE IT
Why couples choose Fairview House
Fairview is the quiet one, a Cape Dutch homestead in total seclusion, all fynbos and mountain view, with no traffic noise and no neighbours in sight. Kathleen & James’s wedding here felt like borrowing a friend’s (very beautiful) country house for the day, which is precisely its appeal: boutique-hotel comfort with private-home intimacy.
The sunsets over the Tsitsikamma from this hilltop are the venue’s signature, fynbos sundowners are practically mandatory.

THROUGH SHARYN’S LENS
Photographing a wedding at Fairview House
The homestead’s white gables against the mountains give the formal frames, and the fynbos does the rest, waist-high texture in every direction, going gold and mauve as the sun drops. I shoot Fairview days toward the west-facing view, ending with the couple on the hilltop as the Tsitsikammas silhouette.
The big picture windows make interior coverage bright and honest, a rainy day here still reads warm.
PLANNING AROUND THE LIGHT
A timeline shaped around your date.
Sunrise and sunset shift throughout the year, so there is no single perfect ceremony time at Fairview House. I build each timeline around the sunset time on your actual date, the ceremony space, the weather and the west-facing fynbos hilltop and the mountain sunset.
MAR TO SEP
March – September
The sun sits lower and golden light arrives earlier in the afternoon. The valley light lowers early and the fynbos catches fire-colour by late afternoon, earlier ceremonies protect the hilltop hour.
OCT TO FEB
October – February
Days run long and the light stays strong late. Long evenings mean later ceremonies still land the Tsitsikamma sunset, usually with a sundowner in hand.
YOUR DATE
Your personal timeline
Once your date is confirmed, I work backwards from sunset and create a photography timeline around your ceremony, portraits and reception, with enough flexibility for weather and the unplanned moments that make the day yours.
THE RHYTHM
The shape of the day
Getting ready → Ceremony → Family photographs → Golden-hour portraits → Dinner & dancing
FLEXIBILITY
Exact times stay personal
Exact times are created for your date, never copied from a generic schedule.

The hotel caters smaller weddings itself and recommends outside caterers for larger ones.
The Cape Dutch gables, fynbos texture and west-facing mountain sunset make it quietly one of the prettiest settings in The Crags.
